Let me start off first by saying how excited I was that video games were up for discussion in class. I am by no means an accomplished sort of gamer but I have a high appreciation for the creativity it takes to develop one. Involving historical aspects to gaming only makes me love it more so you can’t imagine the joy I had in discussing the “Assassin’s Creed” franchise, “Civilization VI”, “Oregon Trail”, and”JFK: Reloaded”. Even if these games are not entirely accurate, the pull factors to non-history majors still forces players to interact with historically based events. Games like these are to create a public interest as opposed to educating said public. If the interest is there, there is a potential for players to personally delve further into a topic that a game is based on.
